Morphine vs. Marijuana

About 2 months ago I went through a horrible withdrawal.

It was getting late in the evening yet I couldn't sleep - so I just sat in my recliner and relaxed with my eyes closed - I couldn't drift off, and I couldn't get comfortable either. Then things started to get worse. Suddenly I noticed my heart was racing and pounding quite hard through my chest, then I was chilled and yet sweating, my whole body ached so badly from head to toe, my head was so foggy, I was frightened, and confused, I didn't know what this was. Then it got worse - my hands started shaking really badly, then a tingling sensation took over my hands, arms, shoulders, and went all the way up to my head and down to my hips....my whole upper body was now shaking uncontrollably. I felt like an heroine addict going through a withdrawal like I've seen on movies.

I somehow got myself to calm down from that panic-like attack I was having, and got to sleep for a bit. Then I woke up at 5am with the worst (sorry to be graphic but its true) explosive diarrhea...and such bad stomach gas cramps....I went back to bed and within not even 30 minutes I was back in the bathroom......this went on for about 3-4 hours of trying to get from the bed to the bathroom in time...I must have gone 7+ times. So horrible, so painful....still not sure what's going on. It didn't quite feel like a normal fever or cold of flu. It was worse and alot of horrible feelings going through my head and mind too. I tried to keep drinking water or milk to stay hydrated but then I started vomiting, and couldn't keep anything down. It was like my body was rejecting everything from every angle. Later in this day of horror - I was able to keep down a tablespoon of hemp hearts and a little milk. I was so exhausted, and wanted to sleep so badly. After realizing I wasn't throwing up anymore....I took some weed butter and went to bed. For the next few days or about a week I guess, I was so weak and tired and fatigued.....rest is the only thing that really helped me through. It was better to be sleeping than awake going through all that....mostly for all the mental craziness going on in my head on top of all the physical difficulties. My girlfriend came to visit me mid way through the day after I was done vomiting multiple times and she recognized my symptoms and told me what was going on. She said "You're going through a Morphine withdrawal". I was shocked - how is this possible? I rarely take it, only a few times a month or every few months sometimes. Then I found out, that if you don't wean yourself off of them properly or just continue to take them - you'll go through a withdrawal. So I had to quit morphine cold turkey - found another painkiller that would work well enough instead and not have the same side effects as morphine did, and then I had to get over the rest of the withdrawal at home by resting a lot and sleeping...and no stress. It took almost a full month to go through it - once I journeyed back through my month and started recognizing the symptoms as they appeared and the triggers and flags around them. I'm doing a lot better now from all that, yet I still get the odd symptom come up, but now I recognize it and deal with it.

It's a scary thing to go through a withdrawal, even worse when you don't know you're going through it, and even worse if you're alone. My fiance was working a lot during my withdrawal and he felt so bad and really wanted to be there for me, however he called a lot and checked on me.

From now on, if I end up in the ER because my pain is too bad and weed is not working enough anymore, I say no to morphine and get them to put me on Torradol. They usually send me home with an RX for Naproxen which kinda helps too.

I recently found a good way to make my own weed butter with coconut oil in a crock pot - it works very well for me through rough pain times...and it doesn't cloud my focus either. Its the best edible I've used and healthy because its made with coconut oil only. I also use it as a salve for sores, burns, cuts, scrapes, blisters, tooth aches, massage oil, on scars, and so much more. It works great for so many things, not just pain, and it's healthier than smoking it too. Better for your lungs. Oh and it's great for cleaning out your digestion too. It worked so well during the last period I had, that I didn't end up in the ER again :D YAY! EndFragment

I have a cyst over 6cms big now, so they are going to operate again soon. Hoping it goes well, and better than my last one.
